Remembering Popeye Day
January 17 is the day to celebrate Popeye Day. Popeye has made his debut beginning in the comic strip known as “Thimble Theatre.” E.C. or Elzie Crisler Segar made it on 17th of January, 1929. This comic was initially centered nearly Olive Oyl, however, the Popeye’s popularity changed that. In 1933, Popeye then had his personal cartoon series. The “I Yam What I Yam” had been the primary cartoon with Popeye being the main cast. Fleischer Studios released their cartoon between 1933 & 1942. Even after the century, Popeye stayed as one of the top famous comics ever produced. POPEYE DAY HISTORY Elzie Crisler Segar — is a writer and a cartoonist from Illinois — who made the Popeye masterpiece during the year 1919. But, Popeye was not really part of the primary story. It took ten years for the primary appearance of Popeye.
